I’ve had the great fortune of visiting Paris numerous times, and with every visit, I am in awe at the grace Parisian women possess. Even when I’m not in Paris, I can spot Parisian women anywhere when traveling.
What makes me such an expert? I’m not, but I’ve visited Paris numerous time, read books about Parisians, sat in countless café’s studying these creatures of mystery, and was once mistaken for a Parisian by a French lady while walking with my husband in Madrid, Spain.
So here are 10 ways to embrace your inner Parisian no mater where you live.
Walk tall and straight. Imagine you have an invisible string attached to your head, slightly pulling you up, forcing you to hold your stomach in while slightly leaning back. Be mindful of your posture at all times when walking, sitting, or standing.
Eat real, unprocessed food.
Learn something new everyday, and be knowledgeable about what is going on in the world. Take pride in what you know, and don’t “dumb yourself down” for anybody.
Choose your friends wisely by taking your time to get to know them. Unveil yourself to people slowly. Don’t tell your life’s story to people within the first couple of months knowing them. True friendship cultivates over time. Make sure the people you call friends have earned that title, and have proven themselves to be trustworthy.
It’s all about the fit! Invest in a good tailor to ensure your clothes fit your body well. Wear colors that compliment and enhance your figure and skin tone.
Develop an appreciation for art, languages, history, books, etc.
Seek out pleasure in all that you do and all that surrounds you. You’ll find your life’s purpose by doing the things your really enjoy. Surround yourself with people who “get you” and want to help you achieve your dreams.
Be true to who you are. Don’t lie to yourself or others. Ditch trying to become a “carbon copy” of someone else (unless you’re an actor/actress getting paid to do it).
Learn the art of wearing a scarf. I have downsized my wardrobe a great deal in preparation to move overseas. Wearing scarves is a great way to change the look of the outfits you wear over and over again.
10. Mindful Eating
Give yourself time to eat your meals. Sit back, relax, look at your food, smell the wonderful smells, then eat slowly.
